The technical publications related to performance indicators for microinsurance are fruit of labour of the Microinsurance Network's working group on performance indicators for microinsurance.
A specific toolkit on performance indicators for microinsurance, within a technical handbook, an Excel factsheet and training modules, was designed by ADA, BRS and GTZ to give microfinance institutions efficient tools to check the viability of their microinsurance products.
2nd edition - Performance Indicators for Microinsurance
This handbook for microinsurance practitioners allows a regular and transparent measurement of insurance services performance. In October 2006 ADA and BRS in collaboration with the former CGAP Working Group on Microinsurance organised the first of two workshops in Luxembourg for microinsurance practitioners and experts from around the world with the aim of sharing experiences and initiating discussions about measuring microinsurance performance. The workshop was concluded with the selection of eight key principles and ten key performance indicators which were then described and briefly discussed in a workshop report 2. Twenty participating organisations (practitioners from Asia, Africa and Latin America) also provided data from their operations which was used to discuss the indicators.
